I love to do Oil Paintings!

Works in Progress on a Saturday afternoon....

I had one in water colours if you remember.  This one is almost done and it is looking wonderful in oils. I am going to do the orchid series all over again  in oils but wait till I come back from Singapore in October.  The oil paints there are cheaper  because they often have promotions.

I will continue to do this next week when I got the right oil colours. I need to do some shopping.

My favourite pastime when I was much younger.  Now I am going back to do it again!  :D

A Hot Afternoon's Work

The above picture is a picture I sketched of a young friend in California. This is going to be precious for me ten or twenty years later....I do not know about her.

It is so hot this afternoon.  Guess I better concentrate on something positive instead of complaining of the heat.
oops, in my haste,  I smudged the pic while trying to paint the hair bit.  Got to hurry, my Maths student is at the door.  I thought I have told her that class is postponed .

Looking Lifeless

I have been thinking about my painting.  Eventhough my friends and family like them, I still feel there is much more I want them to be rather than just  pretty pictures.  They should portray the energy, the romance, the LIFE that they are supposed to tell.  I wonder when I will be brave to let the brush strokes go the way they should go.  I am very restrained and careful at every stroke, which I know is not good for myself.

Works in Progress.

The whole day today was spent on  water colour painting.  I did not complete what I had started but I did quite many. It was quite an adventure, discovering my weaknesses as I went and I realized that if I paint confidently, I can do better.

God is so gracious!

Here's God's gift for us....the orchids garden.

I can't wait till tomorrow to finish them...pray I have some free time. hahaha....can't skip cooking the meals...for now, it is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz time.

Feeling Better

Bachelor's Button...supposedly to be pink but turning whitish as they were almost fading after pollination and fertilisation.....
Believe it or not, drawing, painting or any other creative activity does makes one happier and good about oneself.  However, in my case, it is best to keep what you are pleased about to yourself than sharing with another who may be in the wrong mood .  You might be put down by negative feedbacks.  Hahahaha....I am so happy...

The water colour paintings do look better after a sheen...I used varnish from a spray can, which the lady at the art supplies shop told me what the other artists use.  I am not shy to tell her that I am only a
beginner and she was so very kind to tell me many other things.

Finally!

 '

Hmm...I like to call this painting 'The Odd Couple'.  It makes me think of an old couple walking in the park and after walking for some time , they headed off to look for a bench to sit and rest their tired legs...

And this picture below is humourously called 'ABC Ice' because it sort of gives me an impression of an assortment of whatever just like the 'ABC Ice' we eat in the drink stall...just in case you do not know what 'ABC Ice' is ....well, it is ice shavings..shaped like a mountain served with jelly , nuts, cooked beans, sometimes ice cream etc etc , syrup, and coconut milk toppings....wonderful on a hot day..

Yay! I have at last completed two of the works in progress that I showed two weeks ago.  I have too many drawings and paintings in mind but I  told myself that I am not going to start on new ones unless I have finished the old ones.  It could become a bad habit if I let myself go on and on without completely the few I left uncompleted...hahahaha...self disciplining myself...  :)
Oops...forgot to put my VII down...very important initials... who knows...I might become famous...there I go...daydreaming again...
