As you read my blog, you will find that I am trying to be a good Christian painter or hobbyist. Painting is my passion and I am trying to blend it into my Christian life. It is a good thing to paint or do a craft. You will experience the peace that is meant for you; nobody can take away from you nor can they participate in it. It is specially for you. One who does painting will know what this means.

Long Absence.....but for a good reason
Thousands apologies to whoever out there that had once in a while dropped by to look at my 'painting blog' as I called it.
I apologised for being away and not sharing of my recent artworks.
Today I am going to post all those that have not made their appearances in this part of the virtual world.
Hope you will like them.

Landscape and Seascape
Great photography by local FB friend , Mr Christopher Harriot, has given me much inspiration to produce this beautiful picture and hopefully he will continue to let me use his photos to paint more 'masterpieces'! Boy, am I happy to have so many kind and inspiring friends on Facebook....Thank you Mark Zuckerberg! Really wished you had been born earlier and had this invention during my prime time!
This picture is painted in soft pastel too and it is based on a photo taken by another professional photographer, Mr Ang Kim Heng. Love the composition and the different coloured foliage.
He has captivated one of my favourite sceneries since my childhood. Feeling nostalgic already......

My 2nd Crochet Bag(made from thread remnants)
A new bag I made for myself. A new beginning in my artistic ventures.....meaning I will be using it to carry my plein air painting stuffs like a sketch book, a small box of water colours, some basic brushes, a small palette, a rag and a bottle of water.
Ah, I think a beige sun hat will match this bag. I can go out walking proud doing my painting.
I may look 'strange' here but who cares.....

Learning from the Practices
While painting this cutie, I learnt that hamster's ears are round at their tips, different from a fox's or a dog's ears.
Now this cutie looks more like a hamster.
The next 'babe' in the making.
A work in progress- one of the challenges I have taken up.
This one is in soft pastel , a medium which I am very new at. I am still at a discovering stage. I have a long way to go.....
Another challenge...a work in progress...a watercolour painting. I have been staring at it for two weeks after sketching and was wondering how to paint so that it will give an out of the world kind of feeling....hahaha...I am too down to earth to produce it that way, I suppose.

Painting of a Hamster-a work in Progress
This painting of the cutest hamster in the world is for my friend( ex-classmate since 1971) whom I have met only 2 years ago after we separated when we completed our junior high.
Su Chin....I am beginning to love painting this and because of you, I have started to love painting mammals and I will start a series of paintings of these animals.

Another work in progress ....or is it work in 'distress' ...hahaha....need to make some corrections...on the street lights......not bright enough....and I haven't done the reflections yet...just too difficult at the moment when my mind cannot focus.
All these pictures were painted from snapshots of Christopher Harriot, a local , and boy , his photos are too awesome! I think I am not doing credit to his photos...hahaha...You can get to see them FAA(Fine Arts America)

Work in Progress- 2
The next stage of this painting. A watercolour on acid free sketch book paper, although I had not sketched the scenery first. I went straight on painting with a brush starting with light colours first, just as I will do when working with soft pastels. It is a picture I had used from the blog 'Tired of London, Tired of Life'. I am painting an impression of the scenery, especially the reflections on the water that challenges me to paint them and the different tones on the water too; how the part that has sunlight looks almost whitish and how the part that was cast by the shadows looks almost black, and how parts of the tunnels look lighter due to light coming from the other end. It had me thinking a lot on the aspects of lighting and its effects on the picture as a whole.
I think the writer of the blog has very interesting pictures and it will be wonderful to try to paint some of them. Thanks to Tom, I must say!
